I did watch.

Promised myself that I won't watch a single bit of American Idol this year just because Simon Cowell is not in the judging panel anymore.

Well, you can't stop the family from watching. =O

They're addicted to reality shows just like me.

Started off watching this season with the auditions. The best part about American Idol, and any other singing competition, is the auditons. People who sign up for this are just so, WEIRD! You get cool people and hot people. And then there are those who don't really look good, but perform good. Then comes those who are 'the whole package' outside, but can't hit a single note. Some just want to be on tv, some lack of personality, and some just have nothing better to do on a Wednesday morning.

Season 10, is no doubt, one of the seasons that found many hopefuls during the auditions. I find this year different compared to the other seasons because there were many young, and talented people who joined in this competition. Not fogetting the panel of NEW judges. Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. Their song which plays on the radio 43 times a day. Jennifer Lopez, a person that I look up to and Randy Jackson, the senior of all the judges this year, GO DAWG!

They're now at the stage where they choose their top 24. So far I think that they're choices are not that bad. Those that I didn't really enjoy watching are out, and those whom I love to see in the finals had made it through...


Except for this man..


Meet Chris Medina.

I bet this guy touched many hearts during the audtions, even the judges. If Simon Cowell was on the show I totally think he would salute this man.

You see, Chris Medina was just a normal guy, who loves music and was in love with a girl named Juliana. And they were going to start a life together. Until one day, Juliana got into an accident. So sad. Juliana's brain was badly damaged and she now cannot really speak, and has to sit in a wheel chair.

Chris didn't leave her, you know. He stood by her and made himself responsible to her. He takes care of her and continues to love her, and support her.

His singing is like, super good. But he didn't make the cut. So sad. Even JLo cried because she was the one who delivered the bad news to him. I think I'd cry too. How can you tell a man who is so kind hearted that he didn't make it, even if he's so good?!

Cheer up Mr. Medina!! Because your days of glory won't be over so soon. You have a girl to take care of, and a voice to share with people. Continue singing!!!

just like this, another guy =O

Last year, a normal Asian dude who's living in the US decided that he'd join American Idol. During the audition, I think he was good but not really good. In Hollywood, he was getting better but I still wasn't really fond of him. hehehe. I think I was into Tim Urban at that time, and Didi Benami.

In the end, I think he got into the top 36 and didn't make it after that.

So sad. But he didn't give up. After that, John Park, who's a Korean returned to his motherland to pursue his dreams of becoming a singer. He joined a local reality show in Korea and TAADAH!!!!!

He's now a superstar.

Unbelievable? It CAN happen. You just cannot give up and continue striving for what you wand (: If this guy can make it, I'm sure others out there can too =D

I'm inspired by these two men. Chris, because he is always there for Juliana, the one he loves no matter what and John, for he believes in himself and pursues his dreams.

One Million Star

* I know I know. I should be blogging about my recent trip to Hong Kong, and the Diocesan Youth Camp. Sorry lah. I'm having a cold right now. I didn't really have anything to blog about until I saw this dude on tv just now.

There I was, watching Taiwan's One Million Star 超级星光大道. I have enjoyed watching this show since the first season. The is similar to American Idol, minus the votes by the public. Instead, this competition is based on the judges' decision.

To me, this show is awesome. It is not only entertaining, but the standards are very high. The quality of this show is just superb. I dare not compare it to American Idol but in my opinion, it's on the same level. Although the competition is based in Taiwan, but they hold auditions around the world. I think.. Contestants come from every part of the world. Australians, Americans, Malaysians, Indians, you name it! As long as you're able to converse in Mandarin, you're up for the show.

Another interesting segment of this show is the PK part. PK is something like a 1 to 1 battle. In this case, a contestant from the competition has to compete with a person which is from the public. The non-contestant can be any person, good or bad. It's by luck. The remaining contestants pick their person-to-battle through the lucky dip.

Because of this show, the Asian entertainment industry had indeed bloomed, as many talented people were discovered through this show. lemme show you some..

Season 1 winner, Yoga Lin 林宥嘉. I have no idea how this man sings. His voice is like seriously MESMERIZING. He make make a boring song, UN-BORING.

Yoga has several albums. Go buy. It's worth it.

Anthony Neely aka 倪安东. Yeaps. he's not a chinese. I think he's from the States. He joined as one of the PK, beat many many contestants. The judges were blown away, I was blown away. by his choice of songs. He sang 'Can't take my eyes off you" like a bird! I actually cried when he sang it. hahahaha

So this Anthony Neely dude now has his own album, and has done tons of advertisement. Believe me, if he didn't join OMS, he might just end up being a normal uni student.

aka Jam Hsiao. Based on the exclamation marks, you get the point. I LIKE THIS DUDE!!! He's not handsome and all but he can REALLY sing. And he can sing English songs like a pro. And and and and, he can sing ROCK! and and and, he has a MOLE!!!!

Okay, I know you get the point ahaha.

Lin Yu Qun, like Anthony Neely was not a contestant of the show. He came in one day during PK. I think the contestants at that time weren't at all intimidated by him, until he sang. All was blown away. How can a boy like him, sing like that?!

If Simon Cowell met him, I bet he would have the same Susan Boyle shock, maybe BIGGER. This guy can blow off a Whitney Houston number without sweating!

High Hopes and heartbreak

For those who are into the 70s vibe and enjoy a day relaxing whilst listening to some music, try Brooke White's High Hopes & Heartbreak album. It's the one. Trust me.

If I were to choose, I think American idol season 7 is by far the best season. I enjoyed watching it the most, honestly. I think the contestants were such great and friendly people. And look what they turned into. David Cook's songs make people cry even though they're more rock-ish. David Archuleta is cute like DUH! And Jason Castro? Needless to say. And look at Brooke White. Her songs are just really nice and great. It soothes you. haha

I know some might think that it's so not 'me' because I listen to these kinds of songs but, I do like listening to songs of this genre. Actually, I don't really have a genre that I like in particular, I like what is music to my ears. I might enjoy songs by Faith Hill to Chris Daughtry, from the Tings Tings to Rascal Flatts. I do not limit myself. I like to experiment. Listen to songs that are rare, don't just listen to songs form the Billboard 100.

And I don't just listen to English songs, I have chinese and well, Thai songs on my mp3 too. Yeah well. I only use an mp3. I have no ipod. haha. But that doesn't stop me from enjoying good music that musicians create.

I know I blogged about two weeks ago, wanting Mr. James here to be eliminated from the show. Well, he didn't go out that week, nor the week after. Michael was out last week and I was sad, and mad at Casey. haha


Today, I received news from one of the youth members (: She told me that Casey James is out!!!! MEANS THAT HE WON'T BE IN THE FINALS!!! Jump for joy :D :D I'm so happy that he's out. No offense. I think he's talented and he has got looks but I just want Crystal and Lee to be in the finals!! :D

FYI if you don't believe me because the result show is not shown in Malaysia yet, go google /tweet. It's all in the web, baby. he's out. And girls are crying, but I'm smiling (:

And you might wonder why I'm making such a huge deal about this, well, I'm not!! I just felt a pang of joy after hearing that he's out because I was so depressed in school!! Addmath paper was so depressing and it's only the first paper!! I didn't have enough time to finish the paper and don't even think about asking me whether it went well or not. I can't do the questions. And I'm pretty upset about myself because the dude sitting beside me during the exam just now finished his paper so early.. !!! And he said it was easy and blah blah. he was staring at the wall while I was squeezing my brain juice!!!!


Oh well. Wave to the Addmath paper. Goodbye 1 mark, 2 mark, 3 mark

Love this duet! Casey has the best guitar skills. And I really liked this duet compared to Crystal and Lee's Falling Slowly. I loved the song, but I didn't like their singing, to be honest. It was good, but Kris Allen was better last year. And the original? PERFECTO!


Mr. Michael Lynche was voted off yesterday. SAD! I really wanted Casey James to go out, then I would have an ideal top 3, but it just didn't happen. Male Taylor Swift is still in but Mr. Ninja is out. Why do I call him that? Well, he looks like TMNT! And Eli (: haha

I think out of all the contestants, he touched me the most. You can actually feel the song, and have goosebumps when he opens his mouth. And you can see that he is a super nice person. GO MICHAEL! And his daughter is so cute!!

So who's going to win AI this season. I honestly have no idea. =P

Oh kick me now if you can. I totally forgot that I have youth cell tomorrow. I didn't even know that I'm supposed to lead worship. Rosters make no use. I have no idea where mine is so I'm stuck in this situation right now. I have no ideas what song to sing and I haven't inform my musicians yet. Oh musicians you guys can smack me tomorrow but that doesn't make anything better. Let's just say that I'm back to being the sotong that I was long ago.

I have no idea what has gone wrong with my time management. Seems like the days in 2010 are less than 24 hours. Perhaps the Earth turns faster nowadays due to global warming. Perhaps by 2020 we have only 21 hours in a day. This is not logic. I need to think logic. Somehow I have lost my mind. Or have I blurred myself with marshmallows?


Another thing. Remember me having the crave of reality shows? Right now, I have lost interest in American Idol. CYBI!? I do watch it when it's on tv but there is no anticipation. Last year, I watched every episode and downloaded all the songs that they sang, same to the years before that but right now? I just hope that it will end fast, and I can go get ice-cream. Contestants this year, to me, are not as appealing as previous years. Although I know that each one of them are extremely talented but they just don't attract much, in a way. The law of attraction.

The one contestant who made me interested in her, in this season, is Siobhan Magnus. Quirky, fun to watch and so adorable. She has killer vocals, I like her fashion sense and the way she talks back to Simon :D Sadly, she only made it to the top 6, but I admire this person a lot. Too bad she can't be the American Idol for 2010 but I'm sure she'll be successful in the industry.



Another person, who I find quite appealing, and I think might wrap up the competition is Lee Dewyze. Not because his name is a chinese surname but because, in some ways he has the star talent. He just makes you fall in love with him once he sings. He's got looks, he's got talent. I think he's gonna be the next AI but he needs more confidence!!! Oh yeah, I even got him a chinese name --李豆威. HAHA. I know it's lame but, hope he wins. Go LEE!

So, After Frank Sinatra week last evening(oh Simon Cowell got FS's hankie!!!), I think I'm pretty sure who will be voted out tonight. My guess is the construction worker/ Kara's boy/ Goldilocks/ male version of Taylor Swift....

I would beg on my knees to sing Sinatra. So cool. Anyways, I think out of the top 5, he's the weaker one. And in conclusion, he should be sent home by America.


And I used to think that he's handsome but he didn't look good this week. TOO BAD!

Anyways, It was soooo nice. I never imagined falling in love with a book with vampires! I liked the way that Stephenie mayer described every bit, every scene seemed so real. I was dreaming the whole time, imagining more than I should. oops. Loved the way how Edward Cullen talked, the way Charlie asks her daughter questions. The way vampires ...

And I imagined how Edward, a vampire/ hottie looks like :P dream dream dream...

BUT. He looks like this in the movie...Yeap, they made a movie.

American Idol

Yesterday was the end of Hollywood week. So now it's the top 36. hey hey hey. It's gonna be crazy, and I really want to watch. But then, I need to studyyy. Time problem again.

Yesterday's show was 'gan jeong', not only for the contestants but for us too. I liked the judges mansion :) Looks like it belongs to Simon. haha

Anyways, here are some of the contestants. (in random)

Nick Mitchell a.k.a Norman Gentle. FYI he always dresses like that =.= And his acts on stage are superb. But the judges think he should be more serious!

Casey Carlson. I like this girl :) She's got style bebeh!

Scott Macintyre. He's blind, well almost. His sight is only a straw wide. But he can sing, and play piano. I support this guy!

Michael Sarver. The oil rig guy. All of us like him. He's really really good. =p

Anook! I remember he dressed so geek-ily to his audition. But he shocked the judges with his voice. geng.

Adam Lambert. He's pretty cute but I don't really like him. He paints his nails, you know? I know it's emo and everything but... ugh.

Von Smith. Simon said that he sings like a 10 year old, but I think he's okay. He can really shout!

Lil Rounds. Cool name huh? Wait till you listen to her singing. This mother of three will blow you off your seats.

Danny Gokey. He has a very sad story. His wife passed away few weeks before the auditions. But he's a massive singer. I support him too!!!

Jamar Rodgers. Danny's best friend, they went to the auditions together. He didn't make it to the top 36. All the contestants were shocked, even Ryan xD But he's good, and he got his own style bebeh!

Tomorrow's a school day =( & IT'S A SATURDAY. urgh. I so don't want to go tomorrow.

Rehersal

Headed down town to Gaya Street for a rehersal yesterday. Wednesday, IS the big day. We were told to be there at 8 sharp but then, we were only able to go up stage to reherse at 9. So, we stood there for a total hour, plank. Well, the whole rehersal was great. Our choir group need to warm up our voices before we sing. I heard a lot of pitching problems coming out of the choir last night, I went off key too. haha.
